Liverpool one of the larger cities in the UK and is a popular tourist attraction. The city celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007. In 2008 it was nominated as the annual European Capital of Culture together with Stavanger, Norway. Liverpool’s status as a port city has attracted a diverse population.
The city is home to English rock band, The Beatles, two Premier League football clubs, Liverpool and Everton as well as a number of museums and attractions.
Liverpool’s waterfront is a major British port, which has been vital to the city’s expansion. Many of the cities museums sit along the waterfront, including Tate Liverpool, Maritime Museum and the Museum of Liverpool.
The ACC Liverpool is based on the Albert Dock. This is the best-known dock in Liverpool and comprised of the largest single collection of Grade I listed buildings anywhere in Britain. This area has various attractions ranging from cafes/restaurants and nightlife to culture and history, all within a 10-minute walk of the ACC.
